About our Roadford Lake Lodges

We are a group of three friends who each own a Devon lodge for rent at Roadford Lake Lodges, offering all-year-round luxury family-friendly holidays in our stunning lodges. Each sleeps up to six guests in three bedrooms, with a high-spec ensuite and a large family bathroom. Set within the exclusive landscaped gardens of Roadford Lake Lodge park, Heron, Hornbeam and Snowdrop Lodges are just 100m from the edge of Roadford Lake and its surrounding woodland, nature trails and abundant walks, bursting with wildlife and birdsong. Heron and Snowdrop Lodges are next to each other and boast stunning views across the meadow from a private hot tub and patio, not overlooked by anyone. Hornbeam Lodge is just below us with views instead, towards the woods surrounding Roadford Lake.

Our lodges are available to book together or separately for individual Devon lodge holidays. As we are next to each other our lodges are ideal if you are planning a large gathering of friends and family. Perhaps you are a club or company looking for large group accommodation for a corporate weekend away. If you have booked a conference, meeting, wedding or party at the Roadford Lake venue we are the perfect place to stay, just a minute or two’s walk. We are sorry but our lodges are not available to rent for Stag and Hen parties.

Roadford Lake is a great place for children to disconnect and enjoy all of the fun things to do outdoors. There are play areas, one very close to Heron Lodge that offer a great retreat for children to play freely.

Roadford Lake provides free activity sheets to get the children learning and having fun on their adventure around Roadford Lake. There are masses of things to learn and discover – identify trees, spot animals, identify different leaves or go on a bug hunt.

Surrounded by wildlife

Sit on our patio with views across the field which is planted as a meadow in the Spring and watch for peasants popping up to take a look. Follow the rare breed ducks from the pond below us as they make their daily rounds through the park. You might even see one sitting on eggs in the duck house!

Around the lake, you could possibly spot a rare sighting of the hazel dormouse or a pygmy shrew. There are bat boxes and bird hides around the lake and buzzards wheeling overhead. On our first visit to Roadford Lake, we spotted a majestic heron fishing in the shallows which inspired us to name our lodge. We have books in the lodge to help to identify and spot the birds around you.

No need to cook

A few minutes walk from us is the Roadford Cafe and Bistro, open 7 days a week, it’s ideal for breakfast, light lunches, ice cream, a refreshing drink or a slice of cake. Further afield are a huge range of fantastic cafes, seafood shacks, beach bars, and top-end, award-winning and Michelin-starred restaurants. Devon and Cornwall beaches and coastline on your doorstep

Devon and Cornwall are famous for their wonderful coast and beaches; staying at our lodges puts you within a short drive of some of the best of them! Relaxing on the sand, enjoying a swim or a surf and exploring rock pools all make going to the beach a fantastic day out. Equally exciting and exhilarating is a walk on the beach in the autumn or winter, with the wind in your face, dogs running free and the beach to yourself!

Immerse yourself in the thriving environment at Roadford Lake

When the owners of Heron Lodge stay there themselves they deploy our moth trap at dusk (All moths are returned to the wild in the morning!) We record what we find and send the data to the Devon Moth Group, which in turn reports the findings nationally.

There are over 2,500 different types of moths that play a vital role in telling us about the health of our environment. Since they are so widespread and found in so many different habitats, they are sensitive to changes, moths are particularly useful as indicator species. Monitoring moth numbers and ranges can give vital clues to our environmental changes, such as the effects of new farming practices, pesticides, air pollution and climate change. Please note, that we would like to assure those not keen on moths that you will not notice their presence,  most are nocturnal and only drawn to the bright light used in a moth trap.
