Open-plan sitting and dining room

The front door leads you into the open-plan sitting and dining room with views across the meadow. The sitting room has 2 comfy sofas to enjoy watching the large smart TV, so don’t forget your login details if you want to stream from Netflix or Amazon Prime. The TV has a separate soundbar and subwoofer for great sound, which can also double up as your smartphone speakers, with a quick link via Bluetooth.
For the cooler evenings, there is an electric wood-effect fire which can be controlled manually or via an app on your phone.
The dining room has a large table with 6 comfy chairs and a sideboard containing a selection of family games, cards and a few guide books of the area, mostly on Dartmoor, a place we love and easy reach from Heron Lodge. We provide a foldaway highchair which you will find in the twin room wardrobe if required.

Luxurious Kitchen

Our kitchen has a large electric range oven and a five-ringed gas hob, with saucepans, frying pan, pyrex dishes and oven trays, so it’s equipped if you want to cook a full meal or just heat up a pizza (and yes, there is also a pizza cutter!). There is a decent-sized microwave, a 4-slice toaster, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer, 2 fridges and a separate freezer. In addition, we have the all-important wine fridge which will also fit in the odd beer or two!
We are fully stocked with glasses both breakable and good quality plastic so that you can take your wine or prosecco into the hot tub as you enjoy the sun setting across the meadow. We provide a cafetiere, so if you enjoy fresh coffee, don’t forget to pack it!
We supply plastic cups, cutlery and baby plates for our younger guests, and we haven’t forgotten your 4-legged friend, there’s a water and food bowl if required. There is a double bin to make recycling easier in the park.

Master Bedroom and Ensuite

The Master bedroom has a king-sized bed with bedside tables with plenty of storage for bits and pieces and two reading lamps. There is a large double wardrobe with plenty of space to hide your suitcases. Here you will find a hairdryer and your own smart TV which is connected to the internet.
The en suite has a wonderful double shower, electric towel rail, a large double-doored bathroom cabinet with overhead light and a separate bathroom caddy for additional storage. We also supply a rubber shower mat for those who wish to have extra stability in the shower.
A bath and hand towel are provided along with a towelling robe and slippers for your trips to and from the hot tub.

Two Twin Bedrooms and Family Bathroom

We have two twin rooms, both with a bedside table and reading lamp, one of which can be made up to a king-sized bed if preferred, simply by requesting this on booking. Both rooms have their own smart TVs which are connected to the internet. There is a large double wardrobe where suitcases can be placed. Here you find the baby’s high chair and foldout travel cot, there is an iron and ironing board if you are so inclined to use it on holiday!
The family bathroom has tons of storage space, in the cupboards we have placed a first aid kit, just in case! There is a good shower over the bath and we provide a rubber bathmat for extra stability. there is a heated towel rack to dry off all the towels so they are toasty when next required.
A bath and hand towel are provided along with a towelling robe and slippers for your trips to and from the hot tub.

Completely private enclosed patio, hot tub and views around the Lodge

Double patio doors from the dining area lead to the completely private and uniquely enclosed, south-facing patio with views across the meadow. We are one of only two lodges in the park with an enclosed patio. Enjoy all your meals outside at our table and chairs with comfy cushions. If the sun is too much we have provided a parasol which can be moved around. There is space for a small paddling pool if you wish to bring one for the younger members of the family to enjoy a splash around.
Savour a BBQ on our special metal holder which has enough space for 2 disposable BBQs at a time which you will need to provide, but there are BBQ implements in the kitchen.
The hot tub is heated all year round and is not overlooked by anyone else. There is an option to order laundered robes and an additional towel which you can hang on the hooks attached to the surrounding wooden panelling, we have thought of everything. Relax in the bubbles with a glass (plastic of course) of something cool and refreshing and enjoy the peace and tranquillity at Roadford Lake. The hot tub is the ideal place to ease tired muscles after a long day’s hiking or cycling in the autumn, winter or spring as well as a wonderful place to catch up with your friends.
The lodge is surrounded by grass and beautifully landscaped gardens to give privacy from our neighbours, with patches of meadow left to encourage wildlife. Our section has the wildlife pond, just below us where the ducks go about their lives. The path leading to the nature trails and the cafe is a few minutes walk for a cream tea, refreshing ice cream or a lazy breakfast. Next door to the cafe is a new, absolutely outstanding children’s play park.

Around Roadford Lake Lodges Park

Heron Lodge is situated in a quiet gated park of unique luxury holiday lodges set out in landscaped gardens. The lodges are all privately owned, on the edge of Roadford Lake, set within approximately 250 acres of natural woodland.
The owners’ vision is to put wildlife at the heart of the park with a rare breed wildlife pond, wildflower meadows and many protected areas supporting a variety of native lizards, insects, mammals and birds.
Upon arriving you are struck by how beautifully peaceful it is, a sanctuary in which to relax and unwind. To the left of the sales office is the fantastic gym, packed with all the latest equipment to counterbalance the consumption of delicious Devon cream teas!
If you are bringing your dog, there is a dog wash positioned just off the path leading into the woods and the nature trails surrounding Roadford Lake. The park provides an EV charging point by the gate, a hop, skip and a jump from the lodge.
The lodges are sectioned into 3 areas, with Heron Lodge being in the second section, having just 9 neighbours with views across the meadow and to trees towards the lake.
The Park is very safe for children, lit at night, with gates to all paths leading to the Lake, and a fenced wildlife pond. The Roadford Lake Lodges Park staff are hugely friendly but unobtrusive and only a phone call away should you need them out of hours. Each lodge is asked to respect quiet times so you will never be disturbed by noisy neighbours in the small hours still enjoying the hot tub!
We are captivated by Roadford and we hope you will be too!
